Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 until Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a small neighborhood located in the West Island, which is part of the Montreal island. The West Island, to those who have never heard of it, is an extensive region that runs from Lachine until the west. Amanda Brugel was born there, but her time in the city wasn't long. Brugel lived in Courtice, just outside of Oshawa. The first goal she had was to become a dancer. But, a growing rate increased her height and she outgrew all of the dance partners she had. In an interview with Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inches." Once I outgrew male partners and gave up, I decided to give up. Many dancers make the transition to acting. As for Brugel, it was her drama teacher who encouraged her in that direction. It was her teacher who encouraged her to try out to play the character of Anne in the school's annual production. The teacher who suggested she go after a role in the school's annual show. A Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with the Bachelors in Fine Arts in 2000. Since then, Brugel has been performing in over 60 plays, smaller and large. Most notable was the time she was cast as Rita on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian on the season 1 The Handmaid's Tale cast and only seen occasionally was the sole Canadian.
